a little each… couple of weeks??

by + Alan on July 11th, 2010

“a little each week” – riiiiiight. Ignorant. I should have known better than to curse myself like that. The minute I say something like that, I might as well know it’s never going to happen. Blogging a little each week – what was I thinking. This isn’t 2003! The hey-day is likely gone. We are still technically still up and running though.

Started my new job, which I do like. The only real negative is that I’m too out of shape at 43 and standing/walking on concrete floors for 6 to 8 hours at a time is kiiiiilllin’ my feet! I need new shoes bad. Maybe that’ll help. I’ll tell you what didn’t help – some gel insoles I bought – good Lord! Talk about making the pain 5 times worse! “Yeah, your feet will adjust to them.” Uh, no, they won’t, because I can’t stand the temporary pain they cause. It ain’t happnin’. I think it actually injured my right ankle. Crazy. Anyway, being the “fly fishing guy” in a fishing department again is good I think.

Hospitality is good for my soul. Last night and tonight, we are hosting our friend Will Humes. Will is a United Methodist Pastor from Pennsylvania, from Kentucky originally, back to visit some common friends we have in Cincinnati for a retreat and here to hang with us and a couple of other friends. Good to see him again and hang out.

Being hospitable is something we miss. It used to be more a regular part of our life. Hopefully the hey-day of that isn’t gone. I don’t believe it is. We’ve just gone through a bit of a dry season, sort of a re-grouping season I suppose. My study has become the de-facto “guest room.” So, if you come to visit, you’ll be in a single bed on the floor, surrounded my books, icons and fishing equipment. :)

I think that’s it for now. I was going to say that I’d try to be more regular in my blogging, but we know what that gets us, so… that’s it. Peace.

One of my occupations past was finishing concrete, Red Wing makes a sole that that helps walking on concrete all day.
